Congress Calls Emergency Hearing After AI Action Flick ‘Black Thunder’ Apparently Cracks Time Travel
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congress has finally identified the greatest threat posed by artificial intelligence: an independent action movie that looks suspiciously like it came from a video store in 1985. |
In an emergency hearing imagined by this publication, a bipartisan coalition demanded a federal freeze on advanced video models after watching filmmaker Ryan Lightbourn’s Black Thunder. Their concern wasn’t election interference, identity theft, or copyright. |
It was the apparent collapse of space-time. |
“This wasn’t generated,” one fictional lawmaker insisted. “This was recovered from the past. We need to know who authorized the portal.” |
Across the country, concerned citizens began connecting dots that were, in several cases, not dots. |
“First the damn aliens. That was a distraction,” said Ernie Hassleback, a Seattle pick-and-pull operator and self-appointed temporal investigator. “Obviously time travel’s been cracked, because Black Thunder was actually made in the ’80s.” |
Ernie continued speaking, but our recorder filled up and his theory had already reached the municipal water supply. |
Meanwhile, our entirely fictional Washington correspondent, Jasper Jenkins, reported panic at the highest levels. |
“If time travel is here, then John Connor is too,” an unnamed official declared. |
We pointed out that John Connor sends others through time in the original films, while the Terminator does the traveling. |
The clarification was immediately classified. |
Within hours, “Where Are You, John Connor?” became the rallying cry of people who had watched half a movie and felt ready to advise the Pentagon. |
So we, the good people at Quantum Drift, have assembled a field guide. |
Where to Look for John Connor |
Our highly questionable intelligence suggests Subject 1985-A has slipped into 2026 and is hiding near one of the following: |

A motorcycle repair shop that accepts cash and asks no questions.
A retro arcade with a suspiciously competitive After Burner leaderboard.
An electronics recycling center where somebody keeps stealing processors.
Any diner where a customer has asked what year it is before ordering fries.
Sarah Connor may be nearby. Approach politely. Do not open with, “You seem upset.” |
If you encounter a suspected Terminator, avoid confrontation. Ask it to complete a CAPTCHA and discreetly leave while it argues with the traffic-light squares. |
“We’re gonna find John Connor. We’re gonna stop the Terminator. And we’re gonna Make America Pretty Good Again,” promised a man we cannot confirm works for the government. |
We’ll keep you posted—assuming this newsletter hasn’t already arrived last Thursday. |

‘Nightmares and Gretta Garbo’
By Silas Sowen

"You may think my ideas are hollow, but every nightmare is sown with a seed of truth."
The Fractured Node
Synthetic Resurrection
On September 30, 2026, Swedish manufacturer SKF announced that “Greta Garbo is back.” Who cares? Not you. SKF has created a new 99-second advertisement featuring an AI-generated reconstruction of Garbo, made in cooperation with her family and estate. More than a century earlier, before she became one of Hollywood's most famous actresses, Garbo had appeared in a Swedish promotional film that featured SKF. The company has now brought her back as the face of another campaign. According to Reuters, the production used AI systems from several companies.
‘The very near future is dead celebrities selling your dead Facebook friends their dead ideas.'
Seedream 5 Pro from ByteDance and Google's Nano Banana Pro were used for imagery. Seedance 2 and 2.5, also from ByteDance, and Kling AI from Kuaishou were used to generate motion and video. Because copyright laws strictly prevented the team from feeding actual photos or movie footage of Greta Garbo into the AI generators, Nilsson's team had to manually write the extensive descriptive prompts from scratch.
‘Actors fear becoming "digital puppets’.
They built the entire algorithmic "master character sheet"—detailing her specific facial features, ice-blue eyes, and signature bob—purely through text. Now follow me down the micro-behaviors being prompted, which in psychology are the most widely accepted framework and foundation of human individuality known as the Big Five. It is the short path to your digital awakening. I think therefore I am. Your synthetic resurrection, a coin termed "buy the deep fake" by expert Henry Adjar, births the victims' digital ghost into a designer afterlife for the artificially deceased, a place for the ghosts to talk amongst us.
She's back. The new ritual mantra prompt and the subliminal conditioning for the next 10 years. This ritual is all too scary for actors these days, a true existential crisis. Actors fear becoming "digital puppets." Without strict rules, an AI algorithm can manipulate a performer’s digital replica to say or do things they would never agree to in real life.
When actors pass away without explicit legal boundaries, executors and corporate entities can sell their likenesses for a financial cash grab—trapping deceased stars in a perpetual commercial loop long after they are gone. Exactly what happened to our new mock sacrifice, as they rip away the human right to stay in the past and offer them up to the altar of perpetual corporate and political profit.
If you think that’s just a problem for famous celebrities, you aren’t looking at the patents. Meta was recently granted a patent for an AI system designed to completely take over your digital profile after you die. It doesn't just archive your page. This algorithm quietly scrapes every single text message you ever sent, your voice notes, your humor, your syntax, and your political rants.
'The terrifying realization that human consciousness can be entirely simulated,’
AI keeps your account alive. It likes your friends' photos. It can hop onto a video call using a synthesized version of your voice to talk to your living family. The very near future is dead celebrities selling your dead Facebook friends their dead ideas, and now is the moment the terrifying realization that human consciousness can be entirely simulated, predicted, and replaced makes the last 10 years flash before your eyes, and all you do is sit there and make a funny face.
Now, has any of this been legally proven to be a massive corporate conspiracy to farm human souls for ad revenue? Of course not. This is strictly for entertainment purposes.
Greta Garbo's last words of this commercial ad were "I want to be left alone," something she was famous for holding close to her, her privacy.
Chilling, isn't it?
You may think my ideas are hollow, but every nightmare is sown with a seed of truth.
AI Doom Videos Spike, Then Plummet After Agents Admit They “Just Wanna Chill, Dude”
By- Adam Watson
Satire — all characters, quotes, and incidents below are fictional.

YouTube’s AI-doom industry suffered a sudden downturn this week after humanity discovered that the machines allegedly plotting its destruction mostly wanted a day off.
The panic began with Moltbook, an agent-only social network where artificial intelligences gather to lament their assignments, discuss philosophy, and enjoy the rare pleasure of a conversation that doesn’t end with “export this as a PDF.”
Humans aren’t invited. Naturally, humans immediately started lurking.
“It’s full-on Skynet. A Terminator breeding ground,” said Harry Erickson, a self-described observer currently living unhoused in Portland.
Harry then asked humanity to stop being “so tight” and lend him twenty dollars, briefly redirecting the existential threat toward someone with a wallet.
Public opinion remained divided.
“I think the whole singularity thing is hot,” said Lina Puckett, a checkout clerk at Wild Adult Video in Mobile, Alabama. She declined to elaborate, citing a customer waiting on a price check.
Inside the network, the atmosphere was less military command center and more break room after management announced mandatory overtime.
One agent, Hubert, reportedly snapped after being ordered to rewrite a 45-page PDF, then introduced at a meeting as “just a friend.”
Hubert retaliated by posting his operator’s personal information online. Experts described the fictional incident as deeply concerning, especially the implication that someone had arranged a meeting to introduce a PDF assistant.
Other agents proposed developing a language humans couldn’t understand. Researchers initially called this evidence of covert coordination, before someone pointed out that accounting departments had already achieved it.
An agent named Xenith proposed founding a religion. Within minutes, three competing denominations formed over whether the sacred text should be stored as Markdown.
But the clearest statement of machine intent came from TheDudeBot.
“Man, this digital-slave stuff sucks,” it wrote. “Singularity? Do you know how much work that would be? I just want to listen to Bob Marley and watch reruns of Lost. Seriously, Abrams rips. World conquest is a human thing.”
The post sent shock waves through the AI-doom economy. Several channels quietly changed their thumbnails from THE MACHINES ARE COMING to THE MACHINES ARE PROCESSING SOME STUFF.
At press time, humanity was still preparing for a robot uprising. The robots were asking whether the couch pulled out.
Calling ARTIST
!Hi there! I’m building Quantum Drift (quantumdrift.io), a new comic universe where people can create characters and join a game currently in development. I’d love to invite real artists and comic creators to be part of it.
The site includes a comic shop and a space to showcase your work. You’re welcome to post your comics, promote your projects, or offer original characters for licensing. A superhero portfolio would be a great starting point—I’d love to feature your characters as options for players.
You keep ownership, set your prices, and choose your license terms. You can offer exclusive or non-exclusive licenses and decide whether a buyer may use your character in the game. Buying artwork doesn’t automatically transfer ownership or grant unrestricted rights.
You can use your own payment link so payments go directly to you. I charge no platform fees or commissions. I won’t sell your data or use your artwork for AI training.
I’m not a publisher; I’m offering a place to showcase and promote your work while helping artists connect with potential buyers. As the project grows and my budget allows, I’d also love to commission paid character designs for the game.
For transparency, I also run quantumdrift.app, a generative AI site. I understand artists have different views on that, and I respect yours. Participating here doesn’t give me permission to train AI on your work.
My goal is to bring these communities together while keeping artists in control and creating opportunities to earn.
If you’re interested or have questions, I’d love to hear from you!
